Those interested in culture will enjoy a trip to the former Byzantine bishop city Rossano and of course excursions to the excavations of the ancient Greek colonial cities of Magna Grecia.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES
The Agriturismo Pinelli Bellavista provides an excellent starting point for exploring the archaeological sites of the Greater Greece (Magna Graecia) called region of ancient Greek colonies in Southern Italy.
Places like Metaponto, where once Hannibal had set up his headquarters in the fight against Rome, Sybaris, known for the luxurious lifestyle of its inhabitants and subsequently sacked by Pythagoras, who lived at Kroton, the present-day city of Crotone, Siris e Herklaia, in the municipality of today’s Policoro and many other more, are easily accessible in pleasant half-day and day trips.
POLLINO NATIONAL PARK
Founded in 1993 Pollino National Park covers a large part of the mountain range of the same name and is the largest Italian natural park. The mountains rise to the Serra Dolcedorme at 2267m. A great landscape with an extraordinarily diverse flora and fauna awaits you here, including the loricati pines, some of which are a thousand years old.
The Agriturismo Pinelli Bellavista is in the park and is the ideal starting point for excursions and hikes in this natural paradise.
